December 13, 2020 By sports pro

Swinging a golf driver is an essential part of golf. You can’t neglect this part of golf as it is incredibly vital. Swinging a golf driver is not that easy as it seems. If you ask any golfer, it doesn’t matter if they are professional or not. They have experienced some problems while swinging a golf driver. They have difficulty, as well. Even a professional golfer has faced driver swinging problem.

If you want a good score, you need to know how to swing a golf driver properly. Swinging the golf driver properly goes hand in hand to achieve a good score. You need to know how to swing a golf driver properly. But if you are too much worried about how to be skilled in swinging your golf driver, then don’t worry as I’m going to reveal ten secrets on how you can become a professional golf driver swinger.

So, if you want to know the secrets of how to become a skilled golf driver swinger, then keep reading. The ten tips that will make you professional in swinging a golf driver are given down below.

1. Wide stance

It would be best if you had a wide stance. Having a wide stance will give you stability. And without stability, achieving swing is very tough. Not only challenging, but you also might not be able to accomplish any swing at all.
This is a common mistake that most rookie golfers make. For such a small mistake, the whole strike gets wasted. The driver is the longest golf club in your golf set. And in order to get stable with this golf club, you need to have a wide stance. Many golfers keep their feet close to each other while playing, but this is a mistake that no one should make—especially when hitting with a driver.

It would be best if you kept your feet wider than your shoulders. Your shoulders should be aligned with your inner feet. By doing this, it will build an excellent foundation for you to work with. Driver golf clubs swing path is more extensive than other golf clubs swing paths such as wedge or irons. And that’s why you can’t have a narrow stance because it won’t give you the required stability. And without stability, it is impossible to achieve the desired distance and height.

2. Lean away from the target

This is a mistake that almost everyone makes. And this mistake harms the strike that you will be taking. Many people don’t understand why you should lean away from the target. For understanding why you should lean away from the target, you need to understand that drivers and other golf clubs are not the same, and they are not built the same way. Thus, they also don’t work the same way. Every golf club is different.

There is a significant difference between iron swings and driver swings. With an iron, the golf ball is placed on the ground. And that’s why you won’t take a tee shot with an iron. And for this reason, you have to aim lower while playing with an iron.

But while playing with a driver, the golf ball is placed on the tee. And for this reason, you have to aim higher while playing with a driver. You have to avoid leaning towards the target while playing on the fairways. But if you do this, if you lean towards the target, you will disturb your upper body balance and thus compromise the driver swing. It would be best if you tipped your spine back to stack your upper and lower body correctly. By doing this, you will be able to achieve the right body balance so that you can hit the ball with your driver.

3. More loft

More loft helps you to gain more swing. This is more of a personal preference, but recently, it has gained recognition. Many find it easier to play with more loft. Many believe – more the loft, more the benefits. This notion is believed to be one of the most essential things of golf driver swings in recent years.

Most of the golfers find high lofts easier to deal with. Having more loft just makes your work a little bit easier. Many PGA tour professionals are rooting for high loft drivers. For having high loft drivers, they keep your ball trajectory on the line and require way less swing speed in order to hit the fairways.

As I’ve said before, this is an individual preference. It works for most golfers. But it may not work for you as everyone is different and unique. So, before buying a driver with high loft, you should definitely try it first for yourself to see if it suits you or not.

4. Using lighter clubs for training

Using lighter cubs for practising is a sage idea. It would be best if you practised hard for everything. And practising with your driver is essential as well. But as a beginner, practising with a massive driver won’t be a good idea. You can never start from a hundred. You always need to start from a one and then build it up. That’s why you should start practising with a lighter golf driver. Using a more lightweight golf driver will help you immensely.

Professional golfers are able to hit the ball extremely fast, but a rookie player or a beginner can never hit the ball as quickly as a professional player. It would be best if you worked on your speed and swing. You should start your training now. By using a lighter club and practising more, you can reduce the gap more and more, and you should work towards doing that.

Two types of muscle-skeletal are found on our bodies. And these two should be activated while swinging. If you practice with your lighter golf driver, you will b able to activate your type two muscle-skeletal. Engaging your type two muscle is mandatory if you are trying to get a brutal force on your driver swing.

5. Using more massive clubs for training

Using lighter clubs for training is a great idea. But after you have used a lighter club, it will be very helpful if you used a more massive club as well. After a few strokes with a light club, you should use a heavy one for a few strikes as well. This will make you more skilled as well. This will help you to take on the pressure when needed. You will be able to play more greatly.

And using more massive clubs for training will also engage your type two muscle more. This will be extremely helpful for you. So, it would be best if you tried to practice with both light and massive clubs for training. First, go for lighter clubs and then go for a little bit heavier clubs.

6. Use a launch monitor

A launch monitor is a kind of monitor that helps you to figure out your golf progress over the span of time. It makes it easier to see if you have grown as a golfer or not. By this monitor, you will be helped immensely. By the grace of technology, today, it is possible to monitor your golf growth. And this will be proven to be very helpful.

A launch monitor is not the cheapest golf accessory to buy. It is pretty pricy. But if you can afford to have this tool, then you should have it. It will be beneficial to you. By using this monitor, you can keep track of each and every one of your strikes and see your progression.

7. Cut down your spin rate

It would be best if you reduced your backspin rate. If you spin too much, you won’t be able to get the desired hit. If you turn too much, it takes out a lot from your hit. Your back should be a little bit bent, and it can spin just a little bit, but if it spins more than it should, then it ruins your strike. Your strike needs to be clean and smooth and have coordination with your shoulders, arms, and full body. But it cannot afford to have spin. The spin will ruin your hit.

If you spin too much, your ball will not cover the maximum distance. It will cover much less than it should have. If you cannot solve this problem, you can solve this problem by placing the tee a little bit higher.

Many rookie players make this mistake. Sometimes, even skilled players make this mistake. But you should try avoiding any type of spin in your body while hitting. Avoiding spin will make you cover a few more extra yards. You can try changing your equipment types to see if your spin rate gets better or not, as the types of equipment may be at fault. So, you can try doing that. You can try using a driver with a lower loft and sturdier shaft to cut down your spin rate. It would be best if you always tried to keep your spin rate below 2500 rpm.

8. Putting pressure on the dominant leg

It would be best if you put pressure on your dominant leg. By doing this, your posture would be great and can do better. Your dominant foot should feel more pressure than your front leg. A powerful swing needs robust stability and posture. And by doing this, your posture becomes more stable. It would be best if you first started by distributing the pressure to both of your legs. And then you have to slowly put the pressure on your dominant leg and let the other leg free of pressure.
9. Get rid of early extension.

Early extensions are the worst. They cause so much chaos in your game. And it would be best if you tried not to get an early extension in your game. An early extension happens when a player unwillingly moves his hips towards the ball when attempting a downswing. This can cause a lot of problems. But you can change this. You can try a lot of exercises to prevent this. And this will help you a lot to prevent this from happening.

You can also avoid this by changing your golf setting. You can take down your stance if you are sitting. This will help you a lot.

10. Practice at an uphill position

Practicing at an uphill position will polish your driving skills. Most beginners make the mistake of hitting lower with the driver. But it would be best if you did not do that. It would be best if you always hit a little higher with your driver. You can try using a more elevated tee. So, you have to practice in an uphill position. And as a beginner, it will help you immensely.

Now you know how to get skilled in swinging a golf club. If you follow the given tips completely, you will be able to swing your driver significantly.
